From the Rector
NOTE TO PARISHIONERS
At a meeting of the Select Vestry on Tuesday 30th June, formal risk assessments were completed, including practical arrangements for the eventual return to worship in church. The Select Vestry will consider setting a date for returning to worship in church at its next meeting on 4th August. I will shortly be writing to all parishioners about this situation and other matters, and will write again after the August Vestry meeting.
At the 30th June meeting, Gill Gleghorn was appointed by the Vestry as convener of a new Health and Safety subcommittee and we are grateful to Gill for taking on this responsibility.
John Williamson has stepped down as an honorary treasurer, having served our parish with distinction in that capacity since 2014. The Select Vestry made a presentation to John of a modern artwork by local artist, Keith Drury, entitled ‘Mourne Way’ and depicting many local landmarks. John was also presented with a bouquet of flowers for his wife, Sharon, who has also given so much service to our parish in many ways.
Our new honorary treasurer is Karen Law, who previously held the office of honorary treasurer before John took over. We welcome Karen back to this important role in our parish.
Finally, Eric Cullen has retired as Sexton, having served the parish in that capacity with much dedication since 1984. We are all most grateful to Eric or all that he has done and we will recognize that service in due course. The Select Vestry has awarded a contract to John Roe to take on Sexton duties.
